Flying to Haiti

Over breakfast this morning my kids were being so sweet.  They were chatting about Amos and Story non-stop.  These kids here truly are in love with two kids in Haiti that they’ve never touched or seen face to face.  God is working in their hearts to unite them and join them forever as siblings.  I truly am in awe of how these kids are excited about their brother and sister coming home.

This morning Cayden was talking about what he wants to be for Halloween.

On a side note …. this year he knows what it is … UGH … i might be heading out to get a Halloween costume soon.  He’s not going for being Spiderman like I was hoping.  The age of innocence is leaving us!  It’s the dentist fault!  He kept asking my kids what they were going to be for Halloween … he doesn’t know the Ivey’s don’t bring up stuff they don’t want their kids to know about!!!! 😉

Anyhow … back to the breakfast table talk …..

Cayden said he wanted to be a caterpillar for Halloween so he could then turn into a butterfly.  He said he would then fly to Haiti and pick Amos and Story up and bring them home.

I nearly teared up.  These boys want them home about as badly as we do.

  1. How sweet! That just had to make your heart melt!

  2. The trick to not going and buying Halloween costumes is to talk them into making their costumes. However, it takes a lot more time and effort and hair pulling and gnashing of teeth, but actually I always preferred it. Out of all the Halloweens with my five children there was only one bought costume over the years. And by golly, that Yoda got used over and over again at all kinds of different functions.

  3. I think I want to be a butterfly too.

    Great thinking Cayden.

  4. Cayden’s comment is SO sweet!!

  5. How sweet! I love the way kids think.

  6. I know, I know, you thought that since the Shingletons wouldn’t be around to bring up the bad stuff that you would have at least one more year!! I LOVE YOUR DENTIST!! He makes us look good! Can’t wait to see pictures of Buzz Lightyear and the pirate with the gash in his forehead!

  8. Wow, that made me teary eyed. That’s awesome that the kids are on board with the adoption as well. That makes me so happy 🙂 And by the way, the picture of Story that you posted above has got to be one of the cutest pictures I’ve ever seen!
