Happy Birthday Kiara!

I have thought about Kiara all this week.  Her birthday was on Wed and I was so curious as to the gift that we got her.  You see I don’t know what we got her, but I know we got her something.  Compassion sent us a letter a few months ago reminding us of her birthday and asking if we would like to send “extra” money and they would supply her with a birthday present from us.  How cool is that?

I wish we could have been there with her when she received it.  I wish I could have made her a cake, from a box of course.  I wish we could have hung streamers in the house and balloons on the back of chairs and sang to her as she made a wish. I wish that we could have had a party for her with all her friends.  I wish that she could go to sleep at night with no worries for the next year of her life.  I wish so much for this little girl.

I’m so blessed to be able to be a small part of her life.  My kids pray for her.  We think of her often.  We write her letters and we LOVE when we get letters and pictures from her.  Our lives are enriched because of her life.

Last year Aaron had the wonderful opportunity of meeting our child that we sponsor through Compassion. He says that the experience was once in a life time and phenominal.  I love to hear him talk about her.  I love to hear him tell the story of walking up the mountain to her house.  I love to see his eyes light up when he remembers her mom giving him a basket from her house.  I love it!  He knows first hand what our monthly support to her through Compassion does.  He saw it with his own eyes.  He held her hand.  He touched her face.  He sat in her house.

So, Happy Birthday to our sweet Kiara.  We are blessed to be a small part of your life.
